Shuttle departs from the hotel at 1:00 pm and will return at approximately 5:00 pm.

The tour is approximately 2 hours at the site.

To register for this tour you must register on the ANS registration site when registering for the 2018 ICAPP.

McGuire Nuclear Station is a two unit pressurized water reactor with a net electrical output of 2316 megawatts.  Located on the shores of Lake Norman just north of Charlotte, the units began commercial operation in 1981 and 1984, respectively.   The tour will include the turbine building, the independent spent fuel storage installation, and other plant structures and systems.

Security

Once you have registered, security forms will be sent to the email you provided on your registration form.

To participate in the tour, all forms must be completed and returned as instructed in the email no less than four weeks prior to the date of the tour.   A background check will be performed on all visitors before access is granted.

All U.S. visitors must have a valid government ID (e.g., drivers license or passport).

All international visitors must have a valid passport.

All guests will need to proceed through security before entering.    Screening will be similar to the security used at airports.   Weapons of any kind are prohibited.
